The waters within the protected reef are some 20 metres (66 feet) deep and host an amazing variety of sea life with much of the Great Sea Reef protected as a Marine Reserve. The island itself is volcanic in origin and some lava formations are present.
The eastern side has a gradual and usable slope, rising to 35 metres (110 feet) where fantastic sunset and sunrise views can be observed from the elevated ridge line and slopes. ACCESS & INFRASTRUCTURE:
Access to the property is either by direct seaplane or helicopter flight from Nadi International Airport, on Air Pacific’s comfortable new 42-passenger ATR 42 planes to Labasa and by boat ride to the property within the protected confines of the Great Sea Reef, or by scenic drive from the vibrant tourism and yachting center of Savusavu and by boat the remaining 2.5 miles to Mavuva Island.
Construction materials can be delivered within 2.5 miles of the property for the short transfer to the property by boat or directly by barge from Vanua Levu’s commercial center, Labasa. There are roll on roll off ferries to Vanua Levu 6 days per week.
Full telecommunication connectivity is available for Mavuva Island, along with high-speed internet access, though neither is yet in place. Power supply would be by self-generation and water is available from multiple sources and means on island and nearby. Wastewater disposal can be provided by utilizing environmentally friendly secondary treatment units to ensure no degradation to the pristine reefs surrounding the property.
